Trainees will be able to assess and then manage a casualty of an illness and / or accident with basic life supporting first aid for a short period of time.
Trainees are taught to assess a casualties condition and will able to provide basic life supporting first aid for bleeding and shock; burns; fractures and soft tissue injuries; poisonings; and heart attack; asthma attack; stroke; and seizure. The course includes practical instruction on supporting the breathing and circulation of a casualty with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The course requires a level of fitness to demonstrate competency for the skill being trained.
