    Workplace First Aid

Course Aim
Trainees will be able to assess dangerous situations and given knowledge how to manage an injured or ill casualty using basic life support procedures and providing first aid in the given scene.

Course Overview
Trainees are taught to assess and manage a number of casualties, triage and manage the provision of basic life supporting first aid for bleeding and shock; burns; fractures and soft tissue injuries; poisonings; and heart attack; asthma attack; stroke; and seizure. The course includes practical instruction on supporting the breathing and circulation of a casualty with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The course also contains theory and practical assessments covering the following topics; An overview of regulations relating to accidents in the workplace; Scene Safety, Assessment and Management; and Primary Assessment.

Unlike other First Aid courses Vertical Horizonz courses are 'capped' at 15 trainees per course and the duration remains two (2) days long. This ensures course participants are not only trained to a high standard but are able to demonstrate that they have assimilated the emergency first aid techniques taught to them (see special notes).

VHNZ believe that this actually increases the amount of compliance required and, for many of our clients, owing to the degree of hazard in their work places, the amount of the first aid training required.
