    National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Level 3) 

Note: This course contributes to the award of a National Certificate by the NZQA. VHNZ can apply for the National Certificate from NZQA.

Many organisations need to ensure their staff is compliant for the work they do. This programme is designed to train, certify and qualify workers to work safely in their work environment. It trains the knowledge and skills needed for the work in the workplace, as specified by relevant legislation, the New Zealand and Australian Standards, the Approved Codes of Practice, and workplace policy and processes, in a practical way. It uses New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) unit standards as the means to measure each workers performance and assure competency. The programme has the flexibility to address the specific needs of your business. 

This qualification has been designed to enable it to be used by a number of different professional industries. 

Programme Overview
The programme instructs and assesses the knowledge, skills and attitudes addressed through various combinations of unit standards:

Course Duration
The programme can be delivered face to face or as a mixed media course with each module delivered on line with on line support. The programme also requires candidates to attend at least one face to face contact day per module with each day interspaced by at least a week of directed study and evidence collection on a client workplace site.

Special Notes
Trainees completing this qualification would be able to progress to the National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Coordination) (Level 4) [Ref: 0944] if they wished to become occupational safety facilitators. This in turn could lead to further qualifications at diploma or degree level.

Note: Assessments for the National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Level 3) MUST be completed by 31 December 2020
