Tower Crane Rescue

Purpose
At the successful completion of the course the trainee will be able to identify types of fall arrest systems used in tower crane activities and on structures, their storage and location, and describe the application of controls for compliance with the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 (HSE Act); identify and maintain fall arrest equipment and systems; identify and install anchor points for fall arrest systems; set up fall arrest systems in a tower crane environment; and set up and use a tower crane rescue system in a simulated situation while working at height in a tower crane lattice jib environment.

Course Objectives
Both theory and practical lessons covering the following:

Types of fall arrest systems used in tower crane activities and on structures.
The application of controls for compliance with the HSE Act.
Requirements of standards and codes of practice.
Hazards associated with height work for a specified on-site situation.
Fall arrest equipment and systems.
Anchor points for fall arrest systems.
Set up fall arrest systems in a tower crane environment.
Set up and use a tower crane rescue system in a simulated situation while working at height in a tower crane lattice jib environment.

Attendance Numbers Minimum of 6, Maximum of 8 per trainer
Course Duration 1 day

Open.
This course requires a level of fitness to demonstrate competency for the skill being trained.

Special Notes
Unit standard 15757 Use, install and disestablish temporary proprietary height safety systems when working at height is the pre-requisite for unit standard 23351.
