Course Aim
This unit standard is for drivers of motor vehicles who must comply with work time legislation.

Course Overview
Theory lessons covering the following topics:
  • Causes and symptoms of fatigue.
  • Effects of fatigue on driving performance.
  • Life management skills and work related measures that can be implemented to prevent the onset of fatigue.
  • Work time provisions, and penalties prescribed by law.
  • Driver logbook requirements, and penalties prescribed by law.
  • Management and presentation of work time records contained in driver logbooks, and penalties prescribed by law.
  • Complete driver logbook entries.

Special Notes
Only logbooks in a form prescribed in part 3 of the Rule are to be used in assessment against this unit standard. 
When assessing for either driver licensing purposes or as a result of a Court directive,however, assessors can use simulated scenarios, using photocopies or scanned copies of blank logbook pages for either of the two prescribed forms of logbook.
