Purpose

This unit standard is for people who work on infrastructure, including but not limited to, utility maintenance, infrastructure construction, inspections, supervision management and emergencies.

At the successful completion of this course the successful trainee will be able to: identify the location, and work procedure to be carried out; examine an entry plan for completeness, and enter, complete work, withdraw from a confined space; and conduct a non-entry confined space rescue.

Course Objectives

• Identify the location, and work procedure to be carried out in the infrastructure industry
• Examine an entry plan for completeness, and enter, complete work, and withdraw from a confined space in the infrastructure industry
• Conduct a non-entry confined space rescue in the infrastructure industry.

Special Note

This course is run as a closed client course only due to the specific nature of your working environment, or, if Confined Space Units (17599, 18426 & 25510) are already held this course can be conducted extramurally.

Entry Criteria

The course requires a level of fitness to demonstrate competency for the skill being trained.

Pre-requisite

18426 - Demonstrate knowledge of hazards associated with confined space.
