Purpose

This programme is to enhance candidates basic theoretical knowledge and skills and extend the practical application of a number of key elements/tasks needed for workers within the agricultural industry. On completion of this programme, people will be equipped to work in a partly supervised capacity in agricultural employment.

Programme Overview

The New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Vehicles, Machinery and Infrastructure) (Level 3) will expand on previous theory based knowledge of vehicles, machinery and infrastructure to now focus on practical application of these elements.
Core components of this qualification are:

  • Health and Safety within the Agricultural industry
  • Safe use of:
    - Motorcycles
    - Quad Bikes
    - Tractors
    - Light Utility Vehicles.

Our teaching Method

Our Trainers are all experienced practical people. They speak everyday workplace language and have a wealth of real-life examples to share with our students. A typical delivery is through experience. Over 50% of the lessons contain hands-on activities and the programme includes considerable work experience. Students are encouraged to ‘have a go’ in a supportive, safe environment.
 

Entry Criteria

To be eligible to enrol applicants should:

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Have completed a minimum of 20 verified hours driving a quad bike in a work situation
  • Have access to appropriate work to complete the relevant work experience requirements as verified by an employer or supervisor
  • Have access to relevant protective equipment and, if required, vehicles.

Pre-RequisiteS

The following Unit Standards are pre-requisites required to complete the New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Vehicles, Machinery, and Infrastructure) (Level 3). These units can be delivered and credited throughout the programme should you not already hold them. There will be an extra charge per credit registered
