Work Boots Two

Our Courses

You and your workforce can upskill and gain qualifications across our nationwide centres with training delivered face-to-face in a safe environment. We also offer bespoke training programmes where we can come onsite and tailor specifically ot your needs.

E-Learning and Webinars

We have a variety of courses available that are suited for training during different Covid-19 Lockdown levels. Please have a look through our course categories and courses below.

E-Learning

E-learning is self-directed learning, available anytime. Learners complete our digital learning modules and assessments crafted by our Subject Matter Experts. The relevant NZQA Unit Standards will be issued on successful completion.

WEBINAR Sessions

Our expert trainers deliver LIVE, interactive, web-based learning via virtual classrooms on Zoom. These sessions replace our traditional theory-based face to face courses. The learning outcomes are the same and relevant NZQA Unit Standards will be issued on successful completion.

Other courses are available on request. Learners will need access to a computer and good internet connectivity.

BLENDED Learning

Blended training sessions are run in two phases.

Phase One – E-LEARNING
Trainees complete an E-Learning module and assessment at a convenient time to them. This training lays the foundation of learning and includes a theoretical assessment.

Phase Two – PRACTICAL
After completion of the E-learning in Phase One, trainees attend a face to face training and assessment event focused on practical elements. Phase two is delivered by one of our expert trainers at one of our Training Centres or at your location, whichever is most suitable.

Note: Introduction to Load slinging is currently only offered as a closed course. Click above tab to contact our team for further details.

Practical Lessons: VHNZ will provide a set of confined space equipment but trainees are welcomed and encouraged to make their own equipment available for use during training. It is certainly advantageous to provide your own gas detection equipment so they understand the specifics of your detector. Please also let us know if you require a tripod to be provided if your company conducts top entries.

For Confined Space training on your site it’s helpful to have the following:

  • A simulated CS aligned to your work type.
  • Or an actual CS where risks can be effectively controlled in a manageable environment.

We strive to be as accommodating as possible and can conduct practical lessons on the majority of sites. A VHNZ trainer will do a site tour on the day prior or the morning of a training course to establish the best practical area for training.

Although many skills sets can be conducted on the ground, it’s always beneficial to operate at height during training to ensure the training is specific to the work environment. If the actual area where you operate at height could be made available that would be preferable so the course can be contextualised specifically to your people.

When conducting working at height training on your site it’s advantageous but not mandatory to have some of the following:

  • Exposed beam to suspend ropes.
  • Access equipment where used e.g. ladders, MEWPS

Youth and Gateway

SITE REQUIREMENTS

Our Vertical Horizonz Youth and Gateway Manager will work with you to insure the school/site has the appropriate areas for the training being undertaken.

TESTIMONIAL

Vertical Horizonz has been working with Cambridge High School since the early days of the Vertical Horizonz Youth Division. They had the following to say about the relationship:

“Cambridge High School have a good working partnership with Vertical Horizonz.

Cambridge High School recognised a real need for our Gateway students to have an awareness of Site Safety, when they are on their workplace learning, to support both them and the employer.

The students required the knowledge and skills on safety that our staff was not necessarily qualified to deliver. We engaged Vertical Horizonz to deliver the courses. They deliver on the school site with enthusiastic presenters.

It has also become apparent since we started, that the need was greater than those few students on the Gateway Programme. Many more would leave school and require safety awareness in all fields they endeavour.

The benefit for the students to show an employer that they have an NCEA qualification which also includes some Site Safety qualifications and a certificate to verify this has been well received by students, parents and future employers.”
